That was a surprise for Simon Rattle and the Berliner Philharmoniker: at a concert on 19 January 2011 – the conductor’s 56th birthday – after the interval, several members of the audience stood up from their seats and sang “Happy Birthday” to Sir Simon. A Digital Concert Hall camera was being used for tests that evening, and was able to capture this charming moment.
