Georg Philipp Telemann Duet #1 b minor from Nine Sonatas for two flutes without Figured Bass

DuoKaleidoscope (Katja and Reiko) is playing duet #1 b minor from Nine Sonatas for two flutes without Figured Bass by Georg Philipp Telemann TWV40: 141-149 which were discovered only 20 years ago.
In 1999, ca.5200 pieces of documents, music scores and books were found in Kiev, Ukraine. They belonged to Berlin Sing-Akademie but were missing for many years after the World war II.
These 9 duets for two flutes by Telemann were found among other flute pieces such as flute concertos by W. F. Bach and C. P. E. Bach. Manuscripts of these duets were owned by Sara Levy – Mendelssohn’s grand aunt – and later were donated to Berlin Sing-Akademie.
Each of duets is written in different style and though the movements are rather short, they are full of charms and characters.
Founded in 2006 by Katja Pitelina and Reiko Tsuiki, duoKaleidoscope performs repertoire spanning more than four centuries from the Baroque period to the present day. Using many different flutes from different periods and regions, duoKaleidoscope captures the individual voice of each piece as the composers intended, bringing a unique voice and authenticity to their listeners.
