Italian conductor Carlo Maria Giulini is known for the lushness and fullness of the strings in his recordings, along with the broadness side of tempi with pieces. Giulini never wanted a harsh or abrupt sound and his conducting style is evident here + others) as there’s hardly a full vertical motion from his baton. This one from 1959 is a musical rarity from him, an unusually energetic fast-paced rendition of Mozart’s 35th symphony with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra.
