This splendid performance, under the baton of the immensely talented Russian conductor Vasily Petrenko, was given by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in London’s Royal Albert Hall during the 2014 Henry Wood Proms concerts. His heartfelt reading proves that English music need not be the sole preserve of British conductors! … Incidentally, his commercial recording of the work on the ‘Onyx’ label has received the highest praise too (ONYX4165).
