Chinese composer Chen Gang of “Butterfly Lovers Concerto” fame plays Chen Ge Xin
another well-known Chinese composer of “Rose, Rose, I Love You” and other popular tunes during the 30’s and 40’s.
Here Dr. Wang of Shanghai Conservatory sings Chen Ge Xin’s songs (Shanghai at Night; By the Suzhou Creek; Eternal Smile) accompanied by Mr. Chen Gang on piano with an excerpt of “Butterfly Lovers Concerto” and “Rose Rose I Love You” that ended the program at the German Consulate in Shanghai on Nov. 22, 2013. It was part of Explore Shanghai Heritage program organized and supported by the German Consulate of Shanghai.
