Prokofiev ‘Romeo and Juliet’ – Leonard Slatkin conducts selections

Prokofiev’s music for ‘Romeo and Juliet’ is one of the greatest ballet scores ever composed. He made three Orchestral Suites from the score but for a 2003 Proms concert in London’s Royal Albert Hall, Leonard Slatkin conducted the BBC Symphony in his own 55-minute selection of numbers in their ballet sequence. As will be seen, the Prommers on the night loved this music, so here it is again for a 24-hour, world-wide audience!
