On the occasion of its 75th anniversary the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra celebrated with a live concert in Tel Aviv. The conductor, Zubin Mehta was appointed Music Adviser to the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in 1969 and in 1981 he became its Music Director for Life. 2019 Mehta concluded his tenure as music director and has now the title of music director emeritus of the Israel Philharmonic. The first movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8 shows how close the orchestra and Zubin Mehta became over that long period.
