In the Two Popes, Anthony Hopkins performs an excerpt on the piano which he claims to be a lullaby by his favourite Czech composer Bedrich Smetana. I loved the piece when I first heard it, and after I finished watching the film, went looking through Bedrich Smetana’s piano works only to discover it was Hopkins’ own composition. There’s a few other videos online of Hopkins performing a similar piece, which he seems to improvise slightly differently each time. Here is the rendition from the film that I transcribed!
