Elgar “Nimrod” (‘Enigma Variations’) – Leonard Slatkin conducts

Leonard Slatkin is a considerable champion of Elgar’s music, having performed and recorded both the symphonies, the “Enigma Variations,” “In the South,” the “Serenade for Strings,” the “Cockaigne” and “Froissart” Overtures, plus various other works including the oratorio “The Kingdom.” Here he conducts one of Elgar’s most noble creations, “Nimrod” from the ‘Enigma Variations.’ It comes from a live performance of the complete work given in the opening concert of the 2018 season by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, to whom all due acknowledgements are made.
