As part of the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig International Associate Residency this October, we invited 40 young instrumentalists, aged 12-18, from the East London Boroughs of Hackney, Newham and Redbridge for a very special masterclass.
Over two intense days, the young musicians worked with Gewandhausorchester Leipzig players and music director and teacher Luke Crookes to explore the work of Brahms, the focus of this year’s residency, reimagining the swirling and mysterious orchestral harmonies of Symphony No 4.
The final performance took place on the Barbican freeStage on Wednesday 30 October 2013.
