Wagner – Götterdämmerung 1. Akt Zwischenspiel (Simon Rattle)

Videocapture of the Aix-en-Provence-recording (2009) of Götterdämmerung (Richard Wagner). I’m a fan of Simon Rattle and his interpretation of Wagners music. The way of expression when he conducts the Zwischenspiel after Hagens monologue is stunning and captivating. Rattle looks like sucked into the music.

The music itself in this clip is unbelievable strong with amazing chords in the woodwind- and the brass-section. The way Wagner pictures emotions in this music is compelling.
