Schumann: Toccata in C, Op.7 (Pogorelich)

It’s very rare to find a recording that puts a pretty big distance between itself and all the rest, but this fits the bill. It’s slightly slower than the norm, but the staccato is brilliantly crisp, the tempo relentlessly constant (as befits the form), the aural effects bewildering, the voicing crystal-clear, and the octave passage at 3:41 frankly superhuman.
