Anton Reicha – Quintet in Eb, Op. 88, #2 for Woodwind Quintet

The Israel Woodwind Quintet performs the Quintet in Eb Major, Op. 88, #2, for Winds by Anton Reicha in 1968.

The Israel Woodwind Quintet performed and recorded from the late 1960’s to the early 1990’s. Drawn from the principal players of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, in its established form, the quintet consisted of Uri Shoham, flute, Eliahu Thorner, oboe, Richard Lesser, clarinet, Meir Rimon, French horn and Mordechai Rechtman, bassoon. In addition to performing the traditional and modern quintet repertoire, the Israel Woodwind Quintet specialized in music by Israeli composers and music by J.S. Bach, Mozart and Beethoven, as transcribed by its bassoonist, Mordechai Rechtman.
