Johann Pachelbel’s Canon in D Major

This world famous masterpiece is perhaps the only memory contemporary society has of the musical genius of the Baroque period, Johan Christoph Pachelbel, 1653 – 1706.

Although composed in the 1680s, it was lost to time until the 1920s, and first recorded in 1940 by Boston Native Arthur Fiedler. Since then it has become one of the most popular pieces of Baroque music in existence. Today it is a particular favorite at weddings, and was famously played at the Funeral of Lady Diana.
